Karen Pinchin is the author of Kings of Their Own Ocean: Tuna, Obsession, and the Future of Our Seas. Pinchin is an investigative journalist and trained cook whose work runs in Canadian Geographic, Scientific American, and Hakai Magazine. She graduated from Columbia Journalism School’s MA-Science in 2019, and has since been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Sloan Foundation. She lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her husband and son.

Gloria Dickie is an award-winning journalist and the author of Eight Bears: Mythic Past and Imperiled Future. She is currently a global climate and environment correspondent at Reuters News Agency, based in London. Dickie has written for The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic, Wired magazine, Scientific American magazine, Al Jazeera, Public Radio International, The Atlantic, Outside, Columbia Journalism Review, Mongabay, Yale Environment 360, and Science News, among others. She was a 2022 finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists, a 2021 finalist for the Covering Climate Now awards in the Breaking News category, a 2019 nominee for a National Magazine Award, and the inaugural winner of the 2017 Food Sustainability Media Award, Print. Cat Warren is the author of What the Dog Knows and What the Dog Knows: Young Readers Edition, books about training her German Shepherd, Solo, as a cadaver dog. She is professor emerita at North Carolina State University, where she taught science journalism, editing, and creative nonfiction courses. Before starting her academic career, Warren worked for newspapers across the United States, reporting on crime, poverty, and politics, from California to Wyoming to Connecticut. Warren lives in downtown Durham, North Carolina, with her husband, David Auerbach, a retired professor of philosophy at North Carolina State University, and their two dogs, Rev and Brio.

Previously, Green was associate editor of Future Tense, a collaboration of Slate, New America, and Arizona State University, the writer behind The New York Times romance book review column, and the creator, host, and producer of the podcast The Catapult. She has taught at Columbia University, Eugene Lang at The New School, Catapult, and the Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop, and she is currently a lecturer at Smith College.

Leslie Brody is a creative writing professor, playwright, and biographer. She is the author of Irrepressible, her biography of Jessica Mitford, and Sometimes You Have to Lie, her biography of Louise Fitzhugh, author of Harriet the Spy. In addition to her works of biography, Leslie Brody has written a memoir, Red Star Sister, which received the PEN Center USA West Award, and co-authored a book of essays with Gary Amdahl, entitled A Motel of the Mind. She has held International Writing Fellowships at Hawthornden in Scotland and the Camargo Foundation in France. In the U.S. she’s been an artist-in-residence/fellow at the McDowell Colony, Centrum, Yaddo, Red Cinder Colony, Ragdale and the Virginia Center for the Arts. Brody received her MA and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. Since 1998, she has taught Creative Nonfiction in the Creative Writing Department at the University of Redlands.

Melissa Febos is the author of the memoir Whip Smart and the essay collections Abandon Me and Girlhood. She also has a craft book forthcoming from Catapult in 2022. Febos was the inaugural winner of the Jeanne Córdova Nonfiction Award from LAMBDA Literary, and her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The Sun, The Kenyon Review, Tin House, Granta, The Believer, The New York Times, McSweeney’s, The New York Times Book Review, Lenny Letter, The Guardian, Elle, and Vogue. She curated the Mixer Reading and Music Series in Manhattan for ten years and served on the Board of Directors for VIDA: Women in Literary Arts for five. The recipient of an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, Febos is an associate professor at the University of Iowa, where she teaches in the Nonfiction Writing Program.
