Rebecca Renner is the author of Gator Country: Deception, Danger, and Alligators in the Everglades, which was named a most anticipated nonfiction book of 2023 by BookPage. Renner is also a contributor to National Geographic, and her writing has appeared The New York Times, Outside Magazine, Tin House, The Paris Review, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and other publications. She holds an MFA from Stetson University, and she lives in her home state of Florida.

Karen Pinchin is the author of Kings of Their Own Ocean: Tuna, Obsession, and the Future of Our Seas. Pinchin is an investigative journalist and trained cook whose work runs in Canadian Geographic, Scientific American, and Hakai Magazine. She graduated from Columbia Journalism School’s MA-Science in 2019, and has since been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Sloan Foundation. She lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her husband and son.

She was a 2022 finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists, a 2021 finalist for the Covering Climate Now awards in the Breaking News category, a 2019 nominee for a National Magazine Award, and the inaugural winner of the 2017 Food Sustainability Media Award, Print. Sarah Mirk is a graphic journalist, editor, teacher, zine-maker, and illustrator whose comics have been featured in The Nib, The New Yorker, Bitch, and NPR. Mirk is currently a contributing editor at The Nib, where she writes and edits nonfiction comics about history, politics, and identity, and also works as a writer onThe Nib’s animation series. She currently also works as a digital engagement producer for Reveal at the Center for Investigative Reporting, where she co-writes the investigative comics series In/Vulnerable, illustrated by Thi Bui. Mirk is the author several books, including Guantanamo Voices, an illustrated oral history of Guantanamo Bay prison, You Do You: Figuring Out Your Body, Dating, and Sexuality, Sex from Scratch: Making Your Own Relationship Rules, the graphic novelOpen Earth, and the self-published collection Year of Zines. She is an adjunct professor in Portland State University’s MFA program in Art and Social Practice, where she teaches a graduate seminar on writing and research.
